Tuesday marks the final day voters in the Rio Grande Valley can make their voice heard.

The polling locations for the general election opened at 7 a.m. this morning and close at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Voters will be asking their ballots on several issues including federal, state, and county and school board races.

Early voting ended last Friday.  So far, every county surpassed the numbers in 2008.

Tentative Early Voting Numbers:

Hidalgo:

103,425

Cameron County

42,103

Starr:

7173

Willacy:

1,966 (does not include ballot by mail)

So, why should you vote?

“It’s a responsibility of us as citizens that we protect our way of life and our governments by making sure that we vote for our representatives, and for all those who died in war  to give us that opportunity and obligation” said Republican Hollis Rutledge.

It's also important to create change and protect your civic right.

To give us some perspective/analysis into some of the key races, recent redistricting and what it means for voters, we will have two special guests on Action 4 News.

Former Republican Party Chair Hollis Rutledge and Democratic Chairwoman Sylvia Garza-Perez will join us live.
