Right now, there are about 35 children needing foster care in the valley per week.

Aside from the growing issue, there is also a lack of foster parents for the amount of kids needing a new home.

Jennifer Mayers with the Benchmark Family Services in McAllen came to Action 4 Sunrise to tell viewers more about the foster care program.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a foster parent, or has any questions is encouraged to contact their office at (956)683-9035.
