Preliminary autopsy results are in for a Harlingen woman killed during an alleged robbery.

According to Harlingen police Sgt. John Parrish indicate that 82 year old Flavia Padron Araiza died as a result of blunt force trauma and strangulation.

Araiza was found lying on the kitchen floor of her West Buchanan home Saturday morning. According to witnesses a man was seen running out of the home.

That man was later identified as Miguel Angel Trejo. He was caught a few blocks away from the scene of the crime.

Investigators believe the motive for the killing was robbery. Avila’s diamond ring was missing and has not yet been recovered.

Trejo has been charged with capital murder and is being held on $5 million dollar bond.
