Take a trip through history and progress at South Texas College beginning on February, 12, 2013.

They'll be hosting a series of lectures to commemorate Black History Month.

Christopher Davis filled you in on some upcoming lectures and what they entail on Action 4 Sunrise.

This will be the fifth year that STC hosts this event and it will begin tonight with a discussion on the "Red Ball Express".

Next week, Dr. Michael Soto, from Trinity University in San Antonio, will give the keynote speech about the Afro-Latino experience in the Harlem Renaissance.

Davis says as the community's college, they feel it is important to recognize the increased African American population and achievement in the Rio Grande Valley.

Lectures will take place in the Rainbow Room at the Pecan Campus in McAllen.
