A Brownsville man is behind bars after authorities allegedly found 10 illegal immigrants at his home near the Rio Grande River.
U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested 22-year-old Daniel Andres Martinez on federal human smuggling charges late last week.
It all happened in the Colonia Galaxia neighborhood, which is located along the Rio Grande River northwest Brownsville.
Court records show that Border Patrol agents received a tip that a home was being used to house immigrants just after crossing the river.
Border Patrol agents searched Martinez’s home where they found 10 illegal immigrants inside.
Martinez appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Monday morning.
Court records show that Martinez is an American citizen from Brownsville.
Judge Morgan denied bond for Martinez until a Thursday afternoon hearing.
