The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) made one little girl's wish come true on Saturday.

Larissa, a 7-year-old who is battling cancer, got to do what she has always wanted to do-become a trooper.

Larissa is a part of the Make-A-Wish campaign.

She made some changes to the uniform, which she considers “drab”.

In lieu of her honorary title, Larissa was given a pink uniform to help fight crime.

She was surprised at the Edinburg Airport by DPS troopers.

DPS trooper Johnny Hernandez said that doing this for Larissa has been a gratifying experience.

“Oh my gosh, that is such an awesome feeling,” Hernandez said. “She really is and she is part of our family now.”

Larissa’s parents told Action 4 News that her dream of becoming a trooper was a surprise, but they have had a lot of community support to help their daughter fight through her illness.

“It really backs us up a lot,” Larissa’s father said. “All we have to say is God bless you.”

Her parents said they couldn’t be more proud of their little girl.
