Residents alert Harlingen Fire Dept. about blaze next door

Harlingen fire fighters respond to a fire off of Loop 499.

Harlingen Fire Department responded to a fire on Saturday morning.

Residents who live next to an abandoned property alerted authorities about the fire at 10:22 a.m.

The lot is located off of Loop 499 along New Combes Highway.

The fire spread from a grassy area to a small trailer.

No injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the exact cause of the flames.

There is currently a burn ban in the county. No one is allowed to burn trash in the area without a permit.
