La Plaza mall is one of the busiest stops in McAllen—as those from across the Rio Grande Valley and across the border rush to gather up those last minute Christmas items.
Some people have even taken these last few days to the extreme by loading up flatbeds with gifts.
"The mall is definitely busy,” La Plaza manager Irma Castor said. “Our shoppers are coming out and we appreciate that. We've been fortunate that we stay busy."
While they might stay at a steady pace throughout the years…nothing compares to the holiday season.
That is why La Plaza mall has teamed up with the McAllen Police Department to not only make the shopping experience a pleasant one but a safe one too.
"They're on property,” Castor said. “I can't get into the specifics of everything that we do--but they are here and keeping an eye out on everyone."
Not only that, Irma told Action 4 News that security and ‘holiday helpers’ would be more than happy to escort any shopper and their purchases safely to their vehicle.
