Mercedes man caught with $300,000 of marijuana in van

A Mercedes man was arrested for leading police on a chase that led to the discovery of $300,000 of marijuana inside his car.

Cameron County Sheriff deputies took Noe Villacaña into custody Thursday afternoon.

Deputies found 110 packages of marijuana in the 35-year-old’s van.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio held a press conference on Friday morning to discuss his charges.

Viallacaña has not been arraigned yet, but has been charged with evading arrest and possession of marijuana.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating where the drugs were being taken.
