Singer Jenni Rivera confirmed among dead in plane crash

The family of music superstar Jenni Rivera are making plans to fly to Mexico to identify the late singer’s remains.

Authorities believe Rivera is among the dead in a plane crash in northern Mexico.

Police say Rivera's plane was reported missing around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning after it took off from Monterrey.

Authorities located the crash site, and said there were no survivors out of the seven people aboard the aircraft.

Mexican authorities found her driver's license at the scene near one of the bodies.

Rivera’s brother, Gustavo, spoke out to the media, saying he wanted his sister to be remembered for the talented woman she was.

He also thanked fans around the world for their overwhelming support of Rivera's career and life.

"It's such a big shock to the family, it's incredible,” said Gustavo Rivera. “Most of the people who know my sister know that she was a very strong person. She fought for everything in life. We would just like to say thanks to all the fans. We love you all.”

Jenni Rivera was known as one of the most popular female vocalists in Mexico.

She was also dear to the hearts of the Mexican-American community here in the United States.

The music star sold 15 million records and even had her own reality TV show.

She had just wrapped up a concert in her home town of Long Beach, California before the fatal accident.

She was only 43 years old.
