It's the largest jackpot in Powerball lottery history.

"Half a billion dollars... I'd take just a little bit of that," Israel Serrato said.

The dream of winning big has Mike Wyer, a retired Winter Texan from Canada, buying tickets more than ever.

He’s been playing the lottery for more than twenty years.

"I'm going to buy the biggest motor home I can find and just travel around," he said.

The record jackpot started as a $40 million prize on October 6, and is the result of 14 draws without a jackpot winner.

Powerball players win the jackpot by correctly matching five numbers from a field of 59, plus the Powerball number from a field of 35.

The odds of actually winning the multimillion dollar prize are 1 in 175 million, according to lottery officials.

Still think you have a good chance at winning big?

You may want to consider becoming the next president of the United States.

The odds are a mere 1 in 10 million in comparison to the lottery, Free Money Finance reports.

Or how about being a movie star?

The odds are just 1 in 1.5 million.

One tax expert stated that a person has a better chance of being eaten by a tiger and a shark on the same day.

But Mike doesn't let those odds discourage him from taking a swing at living large.

"I've been golfing for 40 years and that would be about the same chance of me hitting a hole in one," he said with a chuckle.  "So I don't mind."

Krystal Guzman's mother knows a thing or two about lottery victories.

"My mother won $70K once in a scratch off ticket," she explained.

But you won't find the 26-year-old single mother of one, who's studying to be in the automotive industry, buy into the dream of being a half-billionaire.

She's using what little money she does have to pay for gas, college and other bills.

"It's what I need to do," she said.  "I wish everyone who's playing good luck!"

The next Powerball drawing will be held Wednesday night at 9:59 p.m.
