Telenovela star Eduardo Yáñez has been named as Mr. Amigo for Charro Days in Brownsville.
The Mr. Amigo Association made the announcement on Thursday morning.
Yáñez is expected to make appearances in Brownsville and Matamoros for Charro Days in February.
The annual event includes parades, music and celebrations on both sides of the border.
Each year, a celebrity is designated as "Mr. Amigo" to head the ceremonies and events.
Yáñez is best known for his roles in the telenovelas "Destilando Amor," "Fuego en la Sangre," and "Corazon Salvaje."
He is currently starring in the telenovela "Amores Verdaderos."
Yáñez was the romantic lead in "Destilando Amor" with actress Angelica Rivera, who later married Enrique Peña-Nieto and is now first lady of Mexico.
