Authorties raided an apartment complex in Donna and found over 45 illegal immigrants on Thursday.

The apartment belonged to a couple that agents had been monitoring for human smuggling.

Husband and wife, Roberto Martinez and Alicia Hernandez-Calzada, were taken into custody at Junior’s Supermarket in San Juan.

Shortly after, agents went to the apartment and found 28 undocumented immigrants. They also found 17 more people in a trailer outside the complex.

Two other people were identified as being caretakers. Oralia Martinez and Gelacio Ramirez-Aguilar were arrested for helping provide food and other items to the immigrants as well as bringing them to the apartment.

All four suspects face human smuggling charges.
