The investigation continues into a dog attack at a home in Brownsville where authorities found feces, urine and "unbearable" conditions.

Authorities were called to a home on the 1300 block of East 17th Street around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Some 26 dogs were fighting over a tortilla when they reportedly attacked 61-year-old Josefina Ledezma and 51-year-old Estela Regalado at the home.

Brownsville Animal Control officers said the dog owners may have had the pack of dogs living inside their home for about seven years.

Investigators reported that dog feces and urine was found scattered throughout the home and that living conditions there were "unbearable."

Authorities seized more dogs from the home on Friday morning.

The dogs will be in quarantine for 10 days as required by law and will most likely be put down.

A Brownsville city ordinance prohibits residents from owning more than three dogs.

Animal control officers said noneo the dogs had vaccinations tags or collars.

All of the dogs are expected to be tested for rabies and held in quarantine to check for other diseases.
