A San Benito man is behind bars after a botched beer run that ended with him crashing his car into a tree and trying to flee on foot.
San Benito police arrested 24-year-old Juan Medrano on multiple criminal charges early Sunday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that it all started with an unsuccessful beer run at a Stripes convenience store off Expressway 77/83.
Police officers spotted Medrano's car off Oscar Williams Road but he refused to stop for police leading officers on a chase.
Medrano allegedly crashed his car into a tree and bushes before narrowly missing a home on Biddle Street.
A passenger remained in the car but Medrano allegedly fled on foot until a Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputy saw him and arrested him.
Medrano allegedly struggled with the deputy during his arrest.
Officers charged Medrano with evading arrest in a motor vehicle, evading arrest on foot and resisting arrest.
Medrano appeared before a San Benito municipal court judge where he was issued $15,000 dollars in bonds.
