Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department are searching for a group of men believed to be involved in multiple robberies and home invasions.
Four to five men were seen on Thursday night at a home on Mile 10 North in Mercedes.
They fired one shot to break down the home’s door, kicked open the door and threatened the life’s of the five family members.
No injuries were reported in this home invasion, but the armed men took money and some electronics.
Less than 20 minutes later, the men went to another house a mile away.
The victim of this home got into a struggle with the armed men and was shot on his wrist.
The victim’s brother came outside after he heard the gun shots, but when trying to help his brother out, he was shot in the face.
Both of the victims injuries are not life threatening.
Police believe one of the robber may have been shot during the struggle.
Investigators from the Hidalgo County Gang Unit, Robbery Investigation Unit and the Tactical Patrol Unit are all working on this case.
Sheriff Lupe Treviño said that the home invasion victims are not involved in any criminal activity.
The four to five men were seen driving a light green Ford Taurus. This car is also believed to be involved in a recent robbery at the Firebird Ice House.
The car has a dent on the corner of the rear bumper.
