A Mission chase ended with the driver plunging his car into the Rio Grande River and swimming to Mexico.

It all happened near Chimney Park Resort & RV Park off South Conway Road early Thursday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the driver of the suspect vehicle plunged his car into the water.

The driver swam across the Rio Grande to Mexico where vehicles and men were waiting for him.

Chimney Park is a popular Winter Texan resort but has been the scene of other cross-border smuggling incidents.
