Right now, residents across the country are beginning to receive their W-2 forms to file their 2012 tax return.

Now that the fiscal cliff has been averted, many are wondering how, or even if, the tax filing process will be delayed.

David Perez with Liberty Tax service breaks it all down for you so you can stay ahead of the game.

There are a few simple steps you need to know before you head in to file your returns.

First, make sure you have received your w-2 form to correctly complete your IRS return. Second, if you aren't sure how to file your taxes, take it to a professional to get looked at to avoid any errors you may make.

Rumors are swirling of changes to the "Earned Income Tax" credit and a big change towards it, but that is not true, according to Perez. The tax credit is just a little more detailed this year.
