The city of Mission is asking you to sharpen up your culinary skills and put your mind to the test to create an original citrus salad with locally grown products.
They are challenging you to create the best salad using Mission's famed citrus and local produce. They'll provide the produce, you provide the recipe! The winning salad recipe will be featured on the menu of restaurants throughout Mission for everyone to purchase.
Yuriko Ramirez from the Mission Chamber of Commerce tossed up a sample salad on Action 4 Sunrise using fresh ingredients.
Only 10 entries will be accepted for competition so sign up fast! The deadline to submit your entry is Feb. 22.
Selected contestants will have 45 min. to create the ultimate citrus salad using local ingredients, then present their dish and recipe before the judges. Entries will be judged on four criteria: presentation, taste, use of local ingredients and mastery of the required ingredient, citrus.
The competition will be on Saturday, March 2 from 3-6 p.m. at the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, located on 202 West Tom Landry.
For more information or to sign up, contact the chamber at (956) 585-2727, visit them online at
