Healthcare fraud can happen to anyone but more common victims are our senior citizens.

Roberto Obregon and Dolores Salinas gave you all the details about the expo and what you can expect to learn from it.

The Senior Fraud Expo will empower seniors to be vigilant of scammers and know what to look out for.

Obregon says part of the problem is that seniors in the Rio Grande Valley are not English-speaking and are very trusting. He adds that they are also hesitant to admit that they have been scammed. In some cases, Obregon has seen seniors commit suicide after they lost their life savings.

The goal of this expo is to arm seniors with the information they need to protect themselves says Salinas. They need to know that there are resources for them to take home information and protect this from happening in the future.

The Senior Fraud Expo will be held on Feb. 7, 2013 in Weslaco at the Knapp Conference Center in Weslaco. It will be from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to the public.

Anyone caring for a senior or wants to take the information back home to a parent or grandparent is encouraged to attend.
