New Year's babies welcomed across Valley

Families across the Rio Grande Valley spent New Year's Day welcoming their own bundles of joy.

Baby Alexia Paola Silva was the first baby born in the New Year here in the Valley.

The 8 pound 4 ounce baby was born at the Woman's Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.

Just a couple hours, a family at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen welcomed their 7 pound baby boy.

The couple hadn't decided on a name for the baby as of Tuesday afternoon.

In Brownsville, the family of Santiago Martinez welcomed the baby boy to the world.

Baby Santiago was born at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville at 6:07 a.m. Tuesday.
