Reading is the number one skill a child should acquire as they grow up.

This weekend, the Junior League of McAllen will host a "Literacy and Arts Festival" to raise awareness on this very important topic.

Lou Servantes and Dr. Jennifer Almonte-Gonzalez joined Action 4 Sunrise to fill you in on the details.

To make the event a little more fun and exciting for the children of the Rio Grande Valley, they will be receiving a free book at the event.

Dr. Almonte-Gonzalez says that this will allow kids to step away from electronics and gain knowledge from old fashioned books.
