The youth of the Rio Grande Valley are doing their part to help those affected by Superstorm Sandy along the east coast.

With a push from the latest challenge launched by the American Red Cross at schools across the Valley, young students are making a big difference this holiday season.

Diana Trevino and Layla Trevino all stopped by Action 4 Sunrise to explain more about this challenge and how the American Red Cross comes into play.

The Penny Power Challenge was launched in select local school districts this past October. They started in southern Cameron County and are in the process of inviting all school districts in the Valley to participate.
