Four Texas cities being considered for U.S. Olympic bid

Four cities in Texas are among 35 being considered by the U.S. Olympic Committee to potentially host the 2024 Summer Games.

San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Houston all made the list but United States can only submit one city for consideration.

According to the U.S. Olympics Committee’s website, the United States doesn’t have to select a city or submit its bid until 2015.

Olympics officials will take applications from all over the world and vote at a later date.

The U.S. Olympics Committee sent out a letter to the 35 cities laying out the requirements.

The basic requirements for hosting the Olympics Games are:

• 45,000 hotel rooms
• An international airport
• An Olympic village that sleeps 16,500
• 5,000-person dining hall
• A workforce of up to 200,000 and more

The 35 cities being considered are:

• Phoenix, Arizona
• Los Angeles, California
• Sacramento, California
• San Diego, California
• San Francisco, California
• San Jose, California
• Denver, Colorado
• Washington, D.C.
• Jacksonville, Florida
• Miami, Florida
• Orlando, Florida
• Atlanta, Georgia
• Chicago, Illinois
• Indianapolis, Indiana
• Baltimore, Maryland
• Boston, Massachusetts
• Detroit, Michigan
• Minneapolis, Minnesota
• St. Louis, Missouri
• Las Vegas, Nevada
• New York, New York
• Rochester, New York
• Charlotte, North Carolina
• Columbus, Ohio
• Tulsa, Oklahoma
• Portland, Oregon
• Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
• Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
• Memphis, Tennessee
• Nashville, Tennessee
• Austin, Texas
• Dallas, Texas
• Houston, Texas
• San Antonio, Texas
• Seattle, Washington
