Three children were killed in an early morning fire on Sunday.

Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snider said they received the call around 5 a.m. about three children trapped inside two mobile homes on fire.

When fire fighters responded to Gill Street and F.M. 490, they found the homes fully engulfed in flames.

Four people were able to make it out of the trailer, including three adults and a 7-year-old boy.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames.

The three children who died were 15-day-old Victorino Robledo, 1-year-old Angelica Robledo and 3-year-old Salvador Junior Robledo.

The children's grandmother, Evangelina Robledo who lived in the other trailer that burned spoke to Action 4 News.

"My husband heard when something was popping," Evangelina said.

Evangelina was sleeping when the fire broke out.

Their home is connected to her son's, that's why both went up in flames.

Evangelina said her husband sprinted into action, trying to get everyone out.

She said they went into her son's home and were able to drag him and his wife out but could not reach the children because the flames were too high and the smoke too thick.

"I said honey, 'the kids! The kids!.'  He said, 'My love, there's nothing else I can do.  I can't get them out.'" Evangelina said.

Gas tanks kept close to the home forced the horrified family to move away and wait for firefighters.

Evangelina says not going back inside the burning home will always haunt her.

"The memories of having loved them with all my heart because they were my chiquitos remain," Evangelina said.

Hidalgo County Fire Marshalls are investigating the cause of the fire.
