Authorities are investigating a two-car accident that claimed the life of an elderly woman and left several people injured.

It all happened on the southbounds lanes of Highway 77 near Wilson Road around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a Dodge mini-van was getting on the highway from an entrance ramp when it was rear-ended by Ford F-250 truck.

The impact allegedly sent the mini-van rolling over and coming to rest in the median between the northbound and southbound lanes.

Harlingen police diverted traffic off the highway was crews cleared the accident.

Investigators reported that a 79-year-old woman from Minnesota was killed in the accident.

The driver and three others were all taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators said the driver of the Ford F-250 was not injured in the accident.

Records show that the mini-van involved in the fatal accident is owned by Rodger William Duval of Mission.

Duval bought the mini-van from an auto dealership in Mora, Minnesota.
