A former car dealership employee is facing criminal charges after she allegedly pocketed more than $12,000 dollars in cash from the company.

Harlingen police arrested 32-year-old Yesenia Elizabeth Hernandez on felony theft charges on Friday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Hernandez worked at Cardenas Motors off Loop 499.

Police were called out to the dealership back in February where managers reported Hernandez stole $12,354.91 in cash from the dealership.

Managers provided documentation allegedly proving Hernandez collected cash for the services rendered but then pocketed it as opposed to depositing the cash into the company bank account.

Investigators reported that dealership managers questioned Hernandez and that she allegedly admitted to taking the money.

A motive for the theft was not released but investigators reported Hernandez had been working at the dealership since August 2010.

Hernandez remains free after posting a $30,000 dollar bond.
