Repeated calls gone unanswered and messages ignored - that's the response Frankie Graza said he’s gotten from Manuel Saucedo of 2R Construction. Garza hired Saucedo to build his new home last year, and paid him over $160,000 for the job in July.
However, he tells Action 4 News Saucedo and his crew left this home incomplete. There’s different coats of paint showing around the fixtures, loose hinges and cabinet handles, and cracks in the walls, shower and ceiling.
"It's just irritating,” Garza said. “I keep having to take (days) off from work, getting out early, taking half-days, then he doesn’t even show up. He doesn't even have the decency to call or answer his phone or return texts."
Garza said it was Nexus Real Estate in Brownsville that referred him to Saucedo. Nexus also drafted the contract between the parties. Garza doesn't blame the company for the deal gone bad, but Nexus realtors refused to speak today.
Action 4 also called Saucedo to two different phone numbers - one was disconnected and the other goes straight to voicemail.
Garza said this ordeal has taken a toll on his pocket and also his 6-month-old baby girl. He said Saucedo’s crews demand to come to the home to work when his daughter is asleep, and after making arrangements for the baby, they don’t show up.
All Garza wants is the work that was promised to be finished and done properly.
He thought he had done everything right when purchasing his home, but adds there was one tough lesson learned.
"I shouldn't have closed,” Garza said. “I should've just waited and then he wouldn't have had his money and would've had to (finish the job). But now that he has his money he (is ignoring me). I was in a hurry trying to get (the house) ready for my daughter, so I closed."
Garza said he’s prepared to take Saucedo to court if necessary.
