Hidalgo County has state's highest jobless rate

According to the Associated Press, Hidalgo County has the state’s highest jobless rate.

The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area currently has a jobless rate of 11.6 percent.

As for the state as a whole, the unemployment rate for January is at 6.3 percent.

Texas Workforce Commission made the announced on Friday.

They said the higher jobless rate compared to 6.1 percent in December. Nationwide unemployment for January was 7.9 percent and slipped to 7.7 percent in February.

By the end of March, updated unemployment figures for February will be released by the workforce commission.
