Dear Parent/Guardian,
Since the safety of our students and open lines of communication with you are both priorities here at R. Cantu Jr. High School, we need to share some information with you so you have facts and not rumors regarding an incident at school today. Acting on a tip, a student in our school was found to have a loaded weapon in his possession. Our campus staff responded immediately and the police were notified. We immediately went into lock down while the police conducted part of their investigation into the matter. We will continue to work with the police in addressing the issue and appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken based upon the final facts of the case.
Please take this opportunity to remind your child that items, like weapons (toy or real), should never be brought to school. We also ask for your help in keeping such items off campus, by regularly checking your child’s backpack/book bag. Campus and student safety takes the cooperation of everyone and we appreciate the support of our staff, students and parents in this area. Together we can keep R. Cantu Jr. High School a safe place of learning.
Sincerely,
Jose Luis Rios, Principal
