An abandoned home in downtown Brownsville caught fire Sunday morning.

Fire fighters received the call around 9 a.m. and responded to the 2400 block of Ringgold Rd.

When they arrived, they said the home was fully engulfed in flames.

The Brownsville Fire Department was able to put out the flames before the fire spread to nearby homes.

Neighbors told authorities they did not see anything unusual going on at the home before the flames broke out.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire, but said the home is so severely damaged there is hardly anything left for them to speculate.
