File Photo: Skeletal Remains
The Edinburg Police Department and experts from the University of Texas-Pan American and the University of Texas Brownsville continued to search for skeletal remains on Saturday.
Partial remains were found in a drainage ditch on South Raul Longoria Road in July 2012.
They were positively identified as those of Eleazar Delgado, a 59-year-old who was reported missing in June 2010.
Since the bones were found, investigators have been working to find more information.
One hundred students and their professors sifted through dirt on Saturday from the drainage ditch.
The cause of death is still not known at this time because preliminary autopsy results did not provide enough information.
The police department, along with the universities hopes that the Saturday discovery will lead to new findings to provide closure for Delgado’s family.
