A man is behind bars after he allegedly lead authorities on a chase where he allegedly abandoned his truck and tried to flee on foot.

It all happened off FM 681 in the rural Hidalgo County community of McCook late Tuesday morning.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the incident.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a state trooper tried to pull over a white Ford F-150 pickup truck for a traffic violation but the driver refused to stop.

The driver allegedly led state troopers on a chase that ended with him bailing out in a field and fleeing on foot.

State troopers were able to arrest the man and allegedly found a large amount of drugs inside his pickup truck.

The man's name is not being released at this time but he is expected to face evading arrest and drug charges.
