A convicted sex offender is facing extradition to Kentucky after getting arrested during a traffic stop in the Rio Grande Valley.

Harlingen police arrested 59-year-old Gregorio Gonzalez, Jr. last week.

Court records show Gonzalez  was convicted of a sexual abuse charge in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

A judge ordered that he spend 20 years as a registered sex offender but he allegedly moved to home off North A Street in Harlingen without updating his contact information with police.

Harlingen police pulled over Gonzalez on East Monroe Avenue for having expired license plates on his motorcycle last week.

Gonzalez showed the officer a Texas driver’s license but a routine background check revealed he was wanted in Christian County, Kentucky.

The 59-year-old man remains locked up in the Cameron County Jail where he’s awaiting extradition back to the Bluegrass State.
