A federal judge has ordered that a member of the disgraced Panama Unit remain in jail for violating the terms of his bond.

Fabian Rodriguez appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Randy Crane on Friday morning.

Rodriguez was out on a $100,000 bond but it was revoked after he contacted the brother of co-defendant Jonathan Treviño on Facebook.

Among the conditions of his bond, Rodriguez was not supposed to have contact with co-defendants or witnesses in the case.

The Facebook messages were not about the case but Judge Crane ordered that the former Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputy remain jailed until a March 1st hearing.

The judge reprimanded Rodriguez for violating pre-trial release conditions that were very clear.

“There’s no excuse,” Crane told Rodriguez in open court.

According to federal court records, the four jailed officers of the Panama Unit may be facing new charges.

Prosecutors announced in open court that a superseding indictment against them is expected to be filed on March 5th.
