Human bones, found by a construction company in Pharr, have been classified as being hundreds of years old.
The remains were found 4 ft. deep on an undeveloped construction site south of Ridge Road.
When workers unintentionally dug up the bones on Monday, they contacted the Pharr Police Department.
A preliminary report showed that the bones were 60 to 100-years-old, but forensic pathologists transported the bones to the Center of Human Identification at the University of North Texas.
The forensic examiners at the university determined that the bones are of American Indian ancestry and are 400 to 500 years old.
The cause of death nor the sex of the remains were clear.
The case is not considered criminal.
