26 dogs attack two women

Two women are recovering Thursday after being viciously attacked by their own dogs.

It happened a little after 2pm on the 1300 block of East 17th Street.

According to Brownsville police the two females, ages 61 and 63, were on their property when the dogs suddenly turned on them.

Investigators are not sure what sparked the animals to attack.

They say the two women were bit several times.

The females were transported to the hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Brownsville police say in all 26 dogs were removed from the home, all belonging to the victims.

It is not known what breed the dogs are, or if they had all of their shots or tags.

Police say the dogs will more than likely be quarantined, as the investigation on the attack continues.
