Authorities report that five Starr County communities are without water after a pipe burst.

It all happened in a rural area near Garciasville around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials with the Union Water Supply Corporation said the outage is affected five communities:

• Santa Cruz
• La Puerta
• El Chapparal
• Santa Rosa
• Santo Salinas

Authorities believe recent weather changes caused the pipe to burst.

Crews are working overnight to restore water service, which is expected to be done by Thursday morning.

Anyone with questions is asked to call (956) 487-3744 for more information.
