A Brownsville man is behind bars after he was busted for taking a copper valve from the water system at the Galaxy Bowling Alley.

It turns out that the copper valve taken from the Brownsville bowling alley wasn't the first.

Police said the 53-year-old suspect confessed to 30 other thefts.

Witnesses were able to call police when they spotted Jesus Rosas using a hammer to break off a water system back flow valve from outside Galaxy Bowling Alley located on Pablo Kissel Boulevard.

Police said when they arrested Rosas, he confessed to having stolen at least 30 other copper valves from other homes and businesses.

The valves, police said can cost property owners hundreds of dollars.

"Well they are worth between 350 to 800 dollars,” said Police Spokesman J.J. Treviño. “It just depends on the valve itself, that they sell them for probably $50, possibly.”

The valves are often used for irrigation systems and control the back flow of water.

It's unknown if Rosas used a hammer to take off the valves in all the thefts he confessed to.

Police said these thefts date back to September and believe there are possibly more victims still out there.

They encourage people who may have been victimized to call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at 546-TIPS.
