Authorities are investigating the crash landing of a small, private airplane at the McAllen airport.

It all happened just after 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Investigators said the pilot was the only person aboard the airplane.

No injuries were reported in the incident but the accident has shut down the runway.

McAllen city officials reported that the investigation is expected to delay flights in and out of the airport.

Airport General Manager Phil Brown spoke to Action 4 News about the accident.

Brown said that the pilot had just taken off and was flying over South 10 Street when he noticed engine trouble.

The pilot flew back to the airport but crash landed.

It's the third private plane crash at the McAllen airport in the past 18 months.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials told Action 4 News that they will be investigating the Monday morning accident.
