Alton police are investigating a murder/suicide that occurred on the 500 block of West St. Francis Street around 5:30 Sunday afternoon.
Police told Action 4 News a family member discovered the bodies after going to check on the couple.
They said the family member had not heard from them in days and was worried.
When they peered through a window police said they saw one of the bodies covered with blood.
An investigation revealed that the woman was shot twice and the man had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
Police told Action 4 News they have never received calls to report abuse from that home in the past.
They do believe this is a domestic issue.
11 bundles of marijuana were also found inside the home.
This case remains under investigation.
