A Harlingen man allegedly looking for drugs was arrested after he stabbed a man.

Harlingen police say 28-year-old Omar Gonzalez was walking on the 800 block of North D Street with his girlfriend when he approached a home allegedly looking for drugs.

According to police, the homeowner told Gonzalez there wasn't any drugs inside the home.

They said Gonzalez became upset, stabbed the homeowner and then started arguing with his girlfriend.

That's when a neighbor and his friend, Emilio Torres, got involved.

“All of a sudden that’s why they pulled out a knife,” said Torres. “He started stabbing my friend on the shoulder, on the bottom of his arm pit and I guess on his throat.”

Torres said the homeowner is in stable condition and is expected to be okay.

Gonzalez was charged with aggravated assault.
