Woman struck by car, dies at scene

A woman in McAllen died after she was hit by a car while crossing the street.

It happened Friday evening on 23rd Street near Idela Avenue.

Police said the 62-year-old was not at a crosswalk when a car going north on 23rd Street struck her.

She died at the scene.

Her name is not being released at this time.

The driver did stop and render aid, and will likely not be charged.
