Edcouch-Elsa High School was placed on lock down Thursday evening.

Edcouch Police Chief Eloy Cardenas said they took action as a precautionary measure only.

The lock down was decided based on the high number of pranks they have been receiving.

Cardenas said parents do not have anything to worry about, but rumor or not, they did not want to take any chances.

Someone started a rumor he said and they got to the source of it.

It turned out to be a student who wanted to get out of going to class.

Cardenas said those found playing this prank will be charged.
