From singing to dancing, students at Garden Park Elementary School in Brownsville took center stage in front of their classmates and parents for their end of the year celebration.

And though the children were excited to spread some holiday cheer, they were even more excited for what was to come.

"It's the time of year where we need to make sure that we always give back, where we are celebrating success," said Eddie Gonzalez with Academy Sports and Outdoors.

Gonzalez paid a visit to the elementary school to make a special delivery to some very lucky boys and girls.

"During the Christmas program, they have selected 30 children who will be awarded these bikes,” said Minerva Peña with Garner Park Elementary. “Academy was good enough to be here today to make the presentation. Everyone is excited to find out who gets to take home one of those 30 bikes"

Fifteen boys and fifteen girls were chosen by their counselors to receive the bikes on behalf of Academy as a donation to the community and to help support school involvement.

This is the eleventh year that Academy has donated over $200,000 worth of bikes to children across the nation.

"This is the spirit of giving,” said school principal Arturo Gracia. “This is what Christmas is about. And what better place? We are just extremely delighted with the gifts."
