A woman from Liberty, Missouri was arrested by officers with Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) on Tuesday at the Roma Port of Entry.
The woman, identified as Magdelene Deigh, 42, was in the company of her two children, both of which had been reported missing from the Liberty Missouri Police Department.
Deigh arrived at the Roma International Bridge and presented a U.S. birth certificate along with a state issued driver’s license for herself.
She claimed the two minor females with her were her children and U.S. citizens. The primary officer received a possible match on Deigh for an arrest warrant.
Further checks through CBP and law-enforcement databases confirmed the felony arrest warrant for the missing persons.
Deigh took her two minor girls, ages 16 and 4, without having parental custody and the fathers had not granted Deigh permission to take the children.
Deigh was arrested and was transported to the Star County Jail where she awaits extradition back to Missouri.
“This was a great example of how CBP encounters fugitives wanted by law-enforcement agencies through our ability to query everyone seeking entry into the United States,” Cris Cantu, Port Director, Roma Port of Entry, said.
The children were released to the custody of the Roma Police Department, who were to release them to Child Protective Services (CPS).
Cantu added, “These two children will soon be reunited with their fathers and get to go home.”
