Authorities have reopened three local beaches now that high tides caused by a recent cold front have subsided.

The cold front blew through the Rio Grande Valley early Monday morning creating strong waves along area beaches.

Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos issued the order to close three local beaches vehicular traffic on Monday afternoon.

The order affected Boca Chica Beach as well as Beach Access 5 and Beach Access 6 on South Padre Island.

Cascos said on Tuesday morning that weather conditions have improved and that all three beaches have been reopened.
