A woman was arrested for attempting to transport nine illegal immigrants in her pick-up truck.

The woman, a Mexican citizen and legal U.S. permanent resident, was traveling with her 7-year-old daughter, a Guatemalan, a Honduran, two Indian citizens and five Mexican citizens.

A Falfurrias police officer initially pulled over the woman’s Ford F-50 for a traffic violation.

When the officer approached her car, he saw five of the illegal immigrants in the cab of the truck and four others hiding under plywood in the pick-up bed.

Border Patrol came out to Farm to Market Roads 754 and 1418 where the traffic stop was made.

All 11 people in the truck were then taken to the Falfurrias U.S. Border Patrol Station.

The woman, identified as Claudia Maldonado, admitted to authorities that she was transporting the immigrants for $4000.

She and her daughter began their trip in Harlingen and traveled to Falfurrias to pick up the nine people from a brushy area.

She said that she was instructed to deliver the illegal immigrants to the McDonald’s parking lot in Falfurrias.
