Two men are behind bars after authorities allegedly caught them smuggling marijuana near Olmito.

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested 30-year-old Eduardo Garcia-Mendoza and 31-year-old Luis Enrique Contreras-Gallegos on Tuesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the two men were caught with 98.04 pounds of marijuana.

Border Patrol agents turned the two men over to Brownvsille police because the amount of marijuana did not meet the federal threshold for prosecution.

Both Garcia-Mendoza and Contreras-Gallegos remain in custody at the Brownsville City Jail under state possession of marijuana charges.
