A Brownsville man is behind bars after spending about a week on the run for stabbing a man.
The U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force arrested 32-year-old Jose Angel Cavazos early Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators told Action 4 News that that Cavazos is the suspect in stabbing that took place off Rio Vista Avenue last Tuesday.
Authorities located Cavazos at a home on Mason Avenue, which is located a few blocks away from the crime scene.
Cavazos remains in custody under an aggravated assault charge.
The victim remains in stable condition after being stabbed in the head and torso.
The case remains under investigation but the victim told police that Cavazos came to his home, started an argument and stabbed him.
Cavazos reportedly fled the scene with his girlfriend but it’s not clear if she will face criminal charges.
